When you walk into your home and can smell what you had for dinner last night, it’s time to take some action.
Every year at this time people decide they have had enough of how their places looks. The windows are dingy and there is a hairball from the cat rolling across the floor like a tumbleweed.
It’s time to do some spring cleaning but where do you begin. The task each year is a large one, but there is nothing like walking into your home it just smells clean.
One of the first places you should start is making a schedule to clean. You will have a hard time doing this all in one day unless you have help. So, find family members to assign chores to.
The first thing you should do before actually cleaning is to get rid of things you don’t need. Decluttering is the first step to success.
If you don’t have enough room in your garage or storage area at your place consider contacting someone to rent a storage unit.
All Around Moving has options for you in the Detroit suburbs so why not see what you can do without and then take the stuff to a storage unit.
This might be a good time to think about winter gear storage. You don’t need all those clothes for a long time, so why not go through your closets and change that over for the season. You also can put away the snowblower and shovel.
Here are some spring cleaning tips you can use to help this process go fast:
WHERE TO PUT ALL MY STUFF
Each year when you clean you realize you have bought a lot of stuff in the last year. Did you really need the new 75-inch TV when you have one almost that large?
Well, no. But now you have to find where to put the one that was perfectly fine, although your favorite show to stream now looks way awesome.
So, what to do with the other one. That’s always the question. If you think you will use it, put it in another room. If not, try to sell it. This is true to all the stuff you have now. Go through it and create a storage guide for yourself. This way you can figure out what to sell and what to use elsewhere.
Home organization is so important before you start to clean. This way it’s easy to get to everything and not just kind of clean your place.
If you can’t figure out what to do with the item and don’t want to put it in storage, consider doing a yard sale.
And if that doesn’t work give some of the stuff to a good cause.
NOW GET CLEANING
Giving your home a deep cleaning should start with cleaning things like ceiling fans and the tops of your kitchen cabinets. Use a HEPA vacuum if you can or a Swiffer cleaner.
Make sure to think about using safe cleaners that will not make you have to run outside to get some fresh air.
Here is a list of places to start cleaning:
CLEAN THOSE WINDOWS
If you have windows that fold in, you are in luck. Get some glass cleaner and a squeegee and some paper towel. This is one of the first areas that will make your home look clean. After cleaning the windows inside and out, it’s time to take on the blinds. This may be the hardest thing to do. If you have the time take a cloth and spray some cleaner on it and rub each part of the blinds if you have plastic or wood. Make sure the cleaner you use is safe. Use water and a little vinegar if you want to make your own.
NOW GET CLEANING
Wiping down the walls is a great way to get anything that clean feeling. Take a dry cloth and try to get every corner and near the ceiling. You don’t want to use a wet cloth as this can affect the paint.
Clean all light fixtures and doorways.
Then it’s time to clean the kitchen. Go through all the things in your fridge and get rid of things you don’t use. Also, clean each shelf. Then go to the pantry and organize that.
